LYDIA FILIPOVIC has found in FRED BOREY, CAMELIA BEN NACEUR, O-G & ROGER "KEMP" BIWANDU, the perfect musicians to enhance her vision. A multi-cultural group, a mix of Congolese, Montenegrin,Tunisian, Spanish, French & Italian cultures. These artists are breathing, thinking and playing this music with such enthusiasm, such intensity, such emotion that the audience goes out of the concerts totally touched. She pulls out from the past forgotten melodies from Montenegrin and Yugoslavian folklores. She takes off the dust from this repertoire, giving a distinction, a refinement to songs that have been considered as ritornelles. A very beautiful new approach to the musical past of one of the most tormented region of the Balkans. .. 2008 was the time for me to get close to my roots and move back to the Balkans. I shared my time between Greece & France. It was also a great opportunity to perform a music closer to my soul and my inspiration, I reached my goal: playing a music that speaks to the people in a more direct way than the abstract beauty of Jazz but my dearest project is NEKADA and I'm looking forward to expanding and sharing it with more people.
